Because the occurrence of chronic diseases is more affected by people’s bad lifestyle than pathogens, most of them cannot be resolved by hospital treatment alone.

Chronic diseases cannot be restored to their healthy state even if they are treated, and because it is disease management to prevent further deterioration, it not only limits individual social life, but also imposes economic burden on long-term treatment.

Therefore, an effective health management method is not to treat after the disease occurs, but to improve health or increase immunity to disease before the disease occurs. However, if disease prevention is a passive method aimed at suppressing the occurrence of disease or preventing aggravation and aftereffects of disease, health promotion is an active method of maintaining and promoting health by increasing the potential to be healthy.

The key to health promotion is to practice a healthy life in daily life and to improve self-health management ability. Today, healthy living practices are considered more important than therapeutic medicine in resolving health problems. Behavioral change for healthy living is determined by individual will and effort.

We rely too much on medical personnel for health problems and neglect our efforts to manage health. Although they know that health is important, they are not interested in health care in their daily life, and they tend to think that medical personnel will solve their health problems if they become ill.

Health promotion is to practice a healthy life and to change the health management method that is too specialized in the medical field into the field of daily life. Therefore, the practice method for health promotion is not distant or difficult, but is in our daily life, and the practice is done by ourselves.

The most important thing is a sense of responsibility to protect one’s own health when healthy. If we pay a little attention, we will introduce some active health management methods that can be easily practiced in our daily life.

First, keep your body clean. When the body gets dirty, various germs enter our body and live easily, so the risk of getting sick increases. The easy way to keep your body clean with a little attention is to wash your hands, take a bath, change your underwear, and take care of your nails and toenails.

These are the first steps to making our body clean, and not only protect the body from external germs, but also prevent the occurrence of bad bacteria in our body.

Second, I don’t smoke. It is common knowledge that smoking is harmful to health. There are 4000 types of toxic substances and 81 types of carcinogens in cigarette smoke.

According to big data analysis by the National Health Insurance Corporation, smokers have a 1.98 times higher risk of dying from cancer or cardiovascular disease compared to nonsmokers, and the number of deaths due to smoking accounts for 21.8% of the total annual deaths. To stay healthy and boost your body’s immunity to disease, you shouldn’t smoke.

Third, exercise regularly. Exercise has the effect of increasing the body’s immunity to diseases. A desirable exercise tip is to develop a type of exercise that can be done on a daily basis and to do it regularly in consideration of one’s living conditions.

Walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes every day, stretching, jumping rope, climbing stairs, and using public transportation are types of exercise that anyone can continuously practice in their daily life.

Fourth, have good drinking habits. Alcohol causes many diseases such as liver disease, gastritis, pancreatitis, high blood pressure, stroke, esophageal cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Alcohol has an acute effect on the central nervous system and has anesthetic action, which can cause drunk driving and fall accidents.

For health, good drinking habits such as knowing the amount of alcohol you drink, drinking less than the amount you drink, quitting the first round, and diluting strong alcohol should become a daily routine.

Fifth, maintain a clean oral condition. It is important to brush your teeth at least three times a day for about 3 minutes within 3 minutes after eating to prevent this, because plaque, a bacterial film, is formed on the tooth surface 3 minutes after eating.

You should get rid of the habit of snacking to prevent bacteria from working in your mouth, especially before going to bed. In addition, after eating ice cream or soft drinks, be sure to rinse your teeth with water and use an interdental toothbrush or dental floss to remove food debris between teeth.
